when they show up and ask
Tu Mama y Papa?
Yes. Them.
The scary monsters
with the walkie-talkies
wearing the big word
ICE
Here to freeze us,
here to take us away from you.
These monsters have cold hearts
and can’t stand what our warm hearts have.
These monsters won’t let us do anything,
they have unfair magic.
These monsters
can visit our warm country
and nothing happens to them.
But if we want to visit,
they won’t let us come back to see you
But if we don’t visit
they hunt us down,
their crawling hands will snatch us
one
by
one
to send us back where they think we belong.
When these monsters come
we will say the word
FIRE
and you will run and run
as much as your tiny body can handle.
Don’t let the scary monsters find you;
they will take you into a system
where there are more cold-hearted monsters.
All we hope is that you find warmth.
